SWICA health insurance: premiums, strengths & an honest verdict
SWICA is one of Switzerland’s largest health insurers and tops customer-satisfaction surveys year after year. Its strength is the overall package: excellent supplementary insurance, generous fitness and prevention contributions, strong complementary-medicine cover and a service team that works well in English. It is rarely the cheapest, though.

SWICA — FAQ
Is SWICA the best health insurer in Switzerland?
In satisfaction surveys (K-Tipp, Comparis) SWICA is regularly at the very top. "Best" depends on your priorities though: for pure basic-insurance premiums SWICA is rarely cheapest — for service and supplementary benefits it almost always leads.
Does SWICA offer service in English?
Yes — SWICA is one of the more expat-friendly insurers, with English-language service and the santé24 telemedicine line. That makes it a common recommendation for internationals who want support in English.
How do I switch to or away from SWICA?
Basic insurance: cancel by 30 November by registered mail, switch from 1 January. Supplementary cover has its own deadlines (often 30 September) and health screening — never cancel before the new cover is confirmed. We can handle the switch for you.
Do I pay more premium through insurance-guide.ch?
No. Basic-insurance premiums are officially approved and identical whether you sign up directly or through us. We are paid by the insurers via commission; how that works is explained transparently on our advisory page.
